Charles L. Martin

Charles L. Martin of Harpursville, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Mildred Martin; and his father in law, Albert Poltrok. Charles is survived by his loving family: wife of 33 years, Anita; children, Debbie Yocum, Diane & Tom Canniff, Dawn & Rockey Cromes, Doreen & Rich Jones, Daniel & Brenda Martin and Deidre (Kayla) Martin; also 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; mother in law, Virginia Poltrok; sisters, Juanita & Robert Johnson, Janet Laird and Carolyn Smith; in laws, Robert & Lynn Poltrok and Nancy & Tim Stasko; plus numerous nieces and nephews. Charles was a member of the North Fenton United Methodist Church and a former United States Marine having served proudly. He was a retiree from Crowley Foods with 25 years of service and a former member of the teamsters. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and he enjoyed riding motorcycles. Charles was a loving and devout husband, father, grandfather, great grandpa, brother and friend, he will be dearly missed by many. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 6PM at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson, NY 13901 with the Rev. Cynthia J. Wenzinger officiating, Military Honors will follow. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home on Friday from 4-6PM. Those wishing may make a contribution to a charity of one's choice in Charles' memory.
