Christine H. Abbott, age 85, of Hillcrest, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025. She was born on February 13, 1940, in Port Jervis, NY, to Henry and Grace Harter. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, W. James Abbott; her daughter, Carolyn Abbott; and her sister, Camilla Sandlaben.
Christine is survived by her daughter, Wendy Abbott, and son-in-law, Todd Vallie; her sister, Carol Tarvin; nephews O.J. Sandlaben and Karl Sandlaben; and many close friends who were like extended family.
Christine grew up in Hamilton, New York, and was a graduate of SUNY Albany. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, the family photographer and historian, and a dedicated letter writer who never missed sending a birthday or holiday card. She adored her dogs—especially the seven miniature poodles she and Jim cared for over the years. Christine loved reading Betty Neels novels, following a wide range of sports, and cheering on her favorite teams and athletes, most notably the New York Yankees. She was always ready with the latest weather report and delighted in sharing it with anyone who called. Her kind heart, thoughtful nature, and generosity touched the lives of many.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, on Monday, November 10, 2025 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
