

Claire Elizabeth Krempel, of Chenango Bridge, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:42, on April 28, 2018. She is survived by her loving husband of 62+ years, Jerold Norman Krempel and her daughters and sons, Cynthia Jane Krempel of Binghamton, NY, Janice Lynn Olson and her husband Curtis of Largo Florida, Karen Elizabeth Mott and her husband William of Elmira, NY, Keith Edward Krempel of Binghamton, NY, and Alistair McGill Krempel and his friend, James Steele, of Binghamton, NY, and her brother James Robert Smith, of Marietta, Georgia. Claire was proud of her grandchildren, Sarah Josephine Mott, of Jamestown, NY, and Jocelyn Elizabeth Mott and Aaron Grubb, and great grandchildren Sage Anita Collier, Kaiya and Violet Rose Grubb of Eureka, CA. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Alexander and Helen Smith, and her brother, Alan McGill Smith. Claire was born in Patterson, NJ on 1/11/1934 and graduated from Dover High School, Dover, NJ. She worked in Woolworths and Dover Picture Frame Company, was a phone operator, and worked for Encyclopedia Americana before she was married. Claire worked at Columbia Gas in Binghamton before she attended BCC for teacher aide, and worked for Chenango Forks Schools in the Harshaw Bldg. and the High School, and as a special Ed. aide at CFCS before she retired after 37 years, and as a receptionist for Weight Watchers for 30 plus years. She met Jerold Norman Krempel and they wed on October 15, 1955. They moved to NYS and lived in Binghamton after Jerold finished his tour with the Navy as a photographer’s mate. Claire was active in their camping group, The Tripouters; Kattellville Seniors Association, VCRC grow group, Women’s Bible study; traveled much of the continental United States with her family and their many camping friends. She also visited Israel, and Hawaii, and took cruises, (one of which was through the Panama Canal). A Funeral Service to be held Friday, May 4, 2018 11am at the Valley Christian Reformed Church 1452 River Rd., Binghamton, NY 13901, with Pastor Kurt Monroe to officiate, burial will follow at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home 737 Chenango St. Port Dickinson, NY 13901.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Valley Christian Reformed Church. Thank you to the staff at Elizabeth Church Manor and Hospice for the care and support Claire and the family received.
