Concetta O. Pasquale

Concetta Onofrio Pasquale died at home on June 16, 2013 after living a long and joyful life. Her husband Guy, with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage, died in June 2012. Her loving family includes her children Maryterese Pasquale and David Bowen, Leonard and Dana Pasquale, Anita Pasquale, Dolores and Lawrence Koch and her grandchildren Kathleen and Michael Galgano, Christine Pasquale-Urso and Andrew Urso, and Joseph Koch and her great-grandchild Madison Galgano. Her special friends include Eileen Fox, Kathleen Crowley and Louise Williams.

Connie was born in Binghamton to Gabriel and Teresa D’Onofrio who made their home here after leaving Faeto, Italy. They instilled in her, her sister Jennie, and her brother Michael the love of family and the meaning of faith.

Soon after graduating with honors from Binghamton Central High School she began her 40 year career as an employment interviewer with the New York State Department of Labor. She loved her job, she said, because she helped people. In the late 1970’s she initiated a daily radio broadcast to advertise jobs available through the employment office. The witty “Coffee with Connie” became a hit and the person behind the voice was featured in the Binghamton Press.

She spent her life helping people in her personal life as well, caring for her parents, her children, her sister, other family members, and friends. She lived her faith.

Connie had a wonderful sense of humor, a deep respect for all people, a zest for life, and a strong faith.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Fred Mannara, a beloved friend, on Thursday, June 20 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church where Connie was a lifelong member. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM. at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 19 and from 9:45 AM on Thursday until departure for Mass. The Women’s Abruzzese Club will meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
