Helen M. (Pinca) Benzi

Helen (Pinca) Benzi, 84, of Binghamton, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25, 2012 surrounded by her loving children. She is reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Joseph N. Benzi, her beloved granddaughter, Kara Schawiak, and long time canine companion “Koko”. Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Maria (Benzi) Schawiak and husband Walter of Bloomfield, CT; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Deborah Benzi of Binghamton, NY; son Thomas Benzi of Fort Lauderdale, FL; granddaughter, Veronica Schawiak; grandson, Alex Schawiak; granddaughter Liz (Benzi) Bochenek and husband Scott; her sister Victoria Hodakowski; and many nieces and nephews. Helen’s grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy. They will forever cherish her love, humor, and pre-kindergarten poker lessons which included their own personal stash of pennies. We will never forget “Grandma’s Lasagna” and the joy she took bringing her family together. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; a good friend and neighbor to all. We will miss you.

A Funeral Mass will be offered Wednesday, March 28, 2012, 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson Tuesday (Today) from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850.
