

Binghamton: Hilda Louise Taylor Burwell was born July 29, 1929 to Joseph and Melinda Taylor and departed this life on December 11, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Burwell, her daughter, Sharon Burwell and a son, David Anderson; brother, Joseph Taylor, brother, John Taylor, sister, Olivia Carrington, sister, Bernice Wallace, sister, Betty Jefferson, and sister, Shirley Wilkins. She is survived by her sons, Edward E. Anderson, Jr. (Iris) of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Eric D. Anderson (Rhonda) of Albany, New York, and Dane Burwell of Binghamton, New York, sister, Alberta Beulah Gordon of Elmira, New York and brother, Lowell Taylor Sr. (Arletta) of Elmira, New York, eight grandchildren, Kelly R. Anderson, Kandis D. Anderson-Williams, Tasha Perkins, David Anderson, Shana Burwell, Tiffany Burwell, Jason Anderson, Jhonnell and Shonnell Anderson, Andra Burwell and five great-grandchildren, Zion, Xaire, Tyler, Chloe and Madison. She also is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Hilda lived a very full and rich life. She loved her family dearly and was a devoted friend to many. Her passion as we all know was also her gift. She loved to cook and in addition to the many family and friends who were fortunate enough to enjoy her many culinary creations she successfully created and managed a catering business which she named In Demand Catering. She did this well into her later years. After retiring from the catering business Hilda became a school crossing guard, a job she did with as much passion as her catering and cooking. Through this she was led into the foster parenting program in the local school. She became known to many school children as "grandma", a role she loved. She performed this role until illness prevented her from continuing. She attended Binghamton City Schools. Hilda accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church in Binghamton, New York. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 17, at Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church, 203 Oak St., Binghamton. Burial will take place at a later date in Spring Forest Cemetery.
