Irene M. Yalch went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on May 17th, 2026

Irene was predeceased by her loving husband Fred Yalch; her granddaughter Brandy L. Davis; her parents John and Alma (Clapper) Moriarity; and her siblings Larry Moriarity, Donny Moriarity, Robert John Moriarity, Patricia (Moriarity) Smith, Judith (Moriarity) Hanyon, Laura (Moriarity) Dickerson and Doris (Moriarity) Noonan.

She is survived by her children, Robert Matias & Sue Cudo, David and Angela Matias, John & Kathy Matias, Patricia (Matias) Adams, & Martin Matias

Irene had many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also, several nieces and nephews.

Irene was committed to her faith and has served St. Jospeh’s Roman Catholic Church of Sanitaria Springs for many years. She served as a lector and the president of the Alter Rosary Society. She was presented with the Immaculata award in December 2019 for her years of dedication and service to the Catholic Church by Bishop Lucia.

Irene also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Sanitaria Springs Fire Department, several senior groups and clubs, including the Red Hat Society, and she enjoyed going on many trips with them over the years.

A special thanks goes out to Eric and Theresa Monico for always bringing mom communion, which meant the world to her. She had so many special friends (too many to count) that have provided her with so much fun over the years and comfort during this brief illness. We would like to thank everyone that sent her flowers, cards and calls that lifted her spirits daily.

The family would also like to say a special thank you to the Hospice Nurses, aides and volunteers who made mom’s journey more bearable.

A visitation for Irene will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 4pm-8pm at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY 13901. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, 10am at St. Joseph’s Sanitaria Springs Catholic Church, 659 Rt 7B, Port Crane, NY 13833. Interment will be in Lamb Cemetery, Jackson Township, PA.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Sanitaria Springs or Guthrie Lourdes Hospice in her name.
