

Jeanine A. (Welch) Meagher-Hackett died on February 6, 2025 at Guthrie Lourdes Hospital. She is predeceased by her parents, Allen and Anna Welch, her first husband after 38 years Robert E. Meagher who died on July 21, 1991 and their infant son Scott Thomas Meagher, and her sister Alexandra (Sonnie) Zapotocky. She is also predeceased by her second husband after 19 wonderful years, Lynn C. Hackett who died on June 7, 2015. Jeanine is survived by her two sons, Larry A. Meagher, Bolton Landing, NY and David R. Meagher (wife Dr. Nuria Perez-Reyes), Fall City, WA and granddaughter Araceli Meagher-Reyes, Portland, OR. She is also survived by her three daughters, Lynette M. Weintraub (husband Matthew Weintraub), Endwell, NY and grandsons Ryan Weintraub (fiancé Sarah Pollock), Las Vegas, NV, Michael D. Weintraub, Delaware, and Aaron R. Weintraub (fiancé Samantha Ritchie) San Diego, CA; daughter Suzanne M. Welch (husband Lee Douchkoff), Westhampton, MA, grandson David Douchkoff (wife Dr. Jennifer Jachowski) and great gransons Cooper and Julian Douchkoff, Northfield, VT and grandson Jeffrey Douchkoff, Big Sky, MT; and daughter Melinda McNair, Apalachin, NY.
Jeanine worked at State Bowling Center, was an avid bowler, and worked at Broome County Dept. of Public Works. She also owned Jaymar Ceramics for thirty years where she taught ceramics and loved every minute she was teaching her students. Summers were a very special time. The family moved out to their summer cottage on White Birch Lake, Windsor, NY. One of the most memorable events at the lake was when Lynette & Matt were married on the beach in front of our cottage.
Lynn & Jeanine spent winters on the beach on Anna Marie Island in Florida and between spent time traveling to visit their children and grandchildren. Both Lynn and Jeanine, being retired had a wonderful life just spending their life together 24/7.
The family will receive friends at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St, Port Dickinson on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 9:00 am with a time of sharing memories at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Jeanine may be made to your favorite charity.
