Robert C Parker, age 84, affectionately also known as Bob, Bobby, Zeke, dad and grampa passed into the loving arms of the Lord on January 9, 2026, being reunited with family that went before him. He will forever be remembered for his quick wit, smart aleck antics and for never taking himself too seriously. He loved God/family, the Yankees and fishing in that order. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandkids.
He is predeceased by his parents, Ted and Grace Parker and first wife Suzanne Parker. He leaves behind his children, Janet (Ron) Crawford, Barbara Wright and Jason (Michelle Moore) Parker, his grandchildren, Ryan (Amber) Crawford, Cassidy Wright, Lindsey (Aaron) Anderson, Kellie Wright and great grandchildren, William Crawford and Dean Anderson. He also leaves behind his siblings, Robin (Mike) Schmidt and Richard (Judy) Parker and lifelong friends Bob (Carol) Leamon and family.
He was fortunate to have found love again after Sue passed and married current wife Greer Parker which resulted in his bonus family, children Catherine Johnson, Charles Morris and William (Samantha) Morris, grandchildren Morgan Johnson, Nicholas (Meghan) Morris, Riley Todd, Samantha Johnson, Zachary Morris, Madelyn Morris, Donovan Morris, great grandchildren Wyatt Longcoy, Luna Longcoy, Elliette Morris, Amelia Gumaer and Adaline Gumaer.
Bob was born in Pittston Pa, moved to Johnson City and Binghamton until his parents settled in Chenango Forks and became proprietors of Parkers Market which he helped at until it closed. He graduated from Chenango Forks HS class of 59. After school, he worked many jobs including construction, working at the Greyhound Bus station and at Binghamton Savings Bank until he settled at Moore’s Tire Sales where he worked until he retired. He wasn’t one to sit around so he became the “Bob of all trades” for Central Baptist Christian Academy for 5 years until he retired for good. He was an excellent athlete and played volleyball and softball in his adult life. His softball career lasted until he was 76 and at that age, he was still pitching fast pitch games, most of the time against players that were young enough to be his grandchildren! He loved the outdoors and camping was his favorite vacation, especially if fishing was involved. Many an hour was spent trying to catch a big fish and he succeeded on a regular basis! He also loved to eat, and in his younger years he interpreted the words “all you can eat” buffet as a challenge that he took on with gusto! He was a loving caregiver for Sue for many years and kept her at home until it wasn’t possible. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and was involved in many roles throughout the years. Later in life he enjoyed tooling around in his Miata convertible, letting the wind blow through what hair he had left.
