Ruth E. McClure

March 12, 1947 – March 2, 2026

Ruth Esther (Warner) McClure, 78, of Chenango Bridge, NY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 2, 2026. A lifelong resident of the Southern Tier, Ruth was born in Binghamton and raised in Windsor.

Her deep faith was expressed through a beautiful singing voice and a self-taught talent for the guitar. Though she began her musical journey as a small child standing on a chair to reach the microphone with her mother and sister, Bethel, she spent her life preferring the harmony of duets and trios over the spotlight of a solo.

Ruth was a dedicated 34-year employee of Chenango Forks Central Schools, serving most of those years as the Attendance Clerk. While she maintained a demure exterior, she possessed a razor-sharp wit and a mischievous spirit, often surprising coworkers with clever pranks and perfectly timed remarks. Her love for butterflies, which adorned her home and clothing, remained a constant symbol of beauty throughout her life.

She was predeceased by her parents, Richard E. Warner and Esther M. Salisbury. She is survived by her sister, Bethel Rickenbach (David); her niece, Nancy, and nephew, Jeffrey; her sons, Richard J. McClure (Stacy) and Douglas D. McClure; her grandchildren, Ryan, Madison, and Brandon; and her great-granddaughter, Kinley. She also leaves behind her lifetime friend Bonnie Rafferty, as well as longtime friends and colleagues Jane Stebela and Cheryl Dempsey, who remained faithfully by her side in her final weeks.

The family will receive friends at the Community Bible Church, 602 Chenango Street, Binghamton, NY on Wednesday, March11, 2026 from 3-5pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 5pm. Burial will be in the Knox Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
