Although Arturo had no blood relatives living nearby, he found—and lovingly created—family where he lived. He became a deeply cherished “father,” “grandfather,” and “great-grandfather” to the family across the street, forming bonds built on kindness, loyalty, and unconditional love. Arturo was a devoted father figure to Myrna Negron and Roberto Rodriguez, a loving grandfather to Francesca Rodriguez, Mildred Rodriguez, Carmen Rodriguez, Myrna Chandra, Eric Negron, and Jennyfer Rodriguez, and a proud great-grandfather to Nancy, Dennis, Cindy, and Theo.
Arturo worked as an auto mechanic and took great pride in his craft. He especially enjoyed working on his own cars, always happy to tinker, fix, or improve them. A devoted baseball fan, Arturo loved watching the game and was a loyal supporter of the New York Mets.
He became an integral part of his adopted family’s daily life, always willing to help in any way he could—whether it was lending advice, sharing stories, or driving the children back and forth to school. Arturo adored his family, and they adored him in return, grateful for the love, guidance, and steady presence he brought into their lives.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Cremation will be private.
Arturo Rabassa will be remembered for his generous heart, gentle spirit, and the extraordinary way he created family through love. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the family who will forever carry him in their hearts.
