Dominick Mario Pagani, age 89, of Central Islip, New York passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Known as "Duke" in his early days, Dominick married his sweetheart, Amelia Barbara in 1956. They have spent the last 67 years building their loving family. They were blessed with two children, Anthony (Dianne) Pagani and Teresa (Darryl) Moore. Adored grandfather to Nicole, Andrea, James, and Luke. Dominick was privileged to meet five of his great grandchildren, Julianna, Logan, Tyler, Sophia, and Giada. Beloved brother of Anthony, and Loretta whom is predeceased.
Dominick was an avid outdoorsman. He spent time in upstate NY hunting, dabbled in some archery, and fished when he got the chance. Hunting and fishing involve both waiting and patience, virtues Dominick embodied. During his down time in nature, or even in his own backyard, Dominick could spend hours watching the birds, with a particular adoration for the pigeons. Also in his backyard, Dominick poured his time and energy into his garden of abundance and koi pond, his green thumb knowing no bounds.
His family describe him as a caring man, with a big heart, and generous to boot. He was hard-working and family-oriented. "Poppy" spent many years babysitting the grandchildren and later, great grandchildren. He attended sports games and awards ceremonies and a great many dance recitals. He was each of the children's greatest supporter. Dominick always seemed to know what to say, his words of wisdom were legendary to his loved ones, offering love and support during trying times.
