Eleanor Germano

Eleanor Germano, a beloved wife, mother, nanny, and sister, passed away on August 2, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on April 6, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY, Eleanor's life was a testament to love, family, and giving.

She is reunited with her devoted husband, Joseph, after 23 years apart. The couple, who married in 1959, were inseparable in life and are now together once more in eternity. Eleanor is survived by her children: Ken Germano and his wife Evonne, Karen Tartaglia and her husband William, and Michael Germano and his wife April. She was a cherished Nanny to Billy Tartaglia, the late Nicole Tartaglia, Giulia Tartaglia, Jerrad Germano, Justin Germano, Patrick Germano, Kenny Germano, and Michael Germano.

Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved brother, George DeVere, and was dearly loved by all who knew her. Her family was her heart, and she found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren. Her love for the beach, cooking, and knitting were central to her life. When she was able, Eleanor was an active member of the Happy Hookers Knitting Club, where she and her friends would gather weekly to knit hats, scarves, and other items to donate to local hospitals.

Her kindness extended beyond her immediate circle, and she touched many lives through her charitable work and generous spirit. In honor of Eleanor’s memory and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, continuing her legacy of compassion and care.

Eleanor will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her unwavering love, her vibrant spirit, and her enduring generosity.

A visitation for Eleanor will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 5-8 PM at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. Funeral mass will be on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 9:30 AM at the St James R.C. Church, 429 NY-25A, East Setauket, New York 11733.
