Evelyn Quinones-Romero

Evelyn is survived by her sister Fredeswinda; her niece Darlene and her nephew Philip. She is preceded in death by her husband Antonio Romero.

Evelyn was born on May 20, 1931 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She married Antonio Romero, an Air conditioning maintenance repair specialist for Sloan Kettering in 1982. They met dancing at the Copacabana in New York and were married for 21 wonderful years. Evelyn worked for Marsh & McClennan as an executive secretary. Her family remembers her as a happy, kind, gentle, independent, and stylish maternal presence whose laughter soared through the room, causing everyone who met her to be happy.

Evelyn’s hobbie was designing and hand sewing gowns and tailored suits for herself. She was a generous and loving individual who loved this beautiful world. She was passionate about animals, her family, her nails, and traveling. She was known as the “Queen of cruising” by her family and saw 27 countries along her life journey. She was awarded the title of Ms. Rotterdam with Holland America cruise line in 2004 while traveling with her great-nephew Michael.

Evelyn “Honey” has touched us all and instilled a lot of the values that make many of us who we are today. We ask that everyone celebrate her life by smiling and dancing when you can. As she once said to her family, “Honey... when I go don't you cry for Honey, because Honey had a great life”

July 2, 2021 at 4:00 pm-9 pm at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Hwy, Port Jefferson Station, New York.

-Funeral Mass will be held on:

July 3, 2021 at 10:00 am at St Gerard Majella RC Church, 300 Terryville Rd, Port Jefferson S, New York.
