Gilda, whose given name of Italian origin was Ermenegilda, meaning “Gift of God” or “great compensation,” leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and joyful spirit. She was the beloved wife of the late George, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories. She is survived by her daughters, Maria Vann (John) and Barbara Gsell (Bruce), her grandchildren, Joseph, Heather, Ryan(Emily), Meghan(Artur), Matthew, and Spencer, and her great-grandchildren, Greyson and Millie. She is also survived by her brothers, Joseph and Richard, and her FurBaby Dakota.
Gilda had a zest for life that was reflected in everything she did. She found joy in gardening, nurturing both her plants and a group of turtles she lovingly raised in her yard. She was an enthusiastic collector with an eye for the whimsical and meaningful, and she had a special fondness for owls—symbols of wisdom that mirrored her own quiet strength.
Her love of music and dance lit up every room she entered. Gilda adored the soulful voice of Andrea Bocelli and could never resist the beat of Saturday Night Fever. She was also a talented cook, known for filling her home with comforting aromas and her table with delicious meals made from the heart.
Gilda will be remembered for her warmth, her creativity, and the way she made others feel seen and loved. Her legacy lives on in the memories of all who knew her and in the simple joys she so deeply appreciated.
