Geelan Jr, Grant Thomas on April 8th, 2024 of Ridge, New York, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late Patricia Sweeney Geelan. Loving father of Laura LoManto (Jim), Greg Geelan, Sue Geelan (Michael Holzmann), Dennis Geelan (Karen), Timothy Geelan and Beth Fanning. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas LoManto (Caitlin), Brianne LoManto, Kristen Schlecht (Marc), Jillian LoManto, Anastasia Geelan, Sinaya Geelan, Zachary Siska (Rachel), Kyla Fanning, Robert Geelan and Sara Geelan. Adored great-grandfather of Liam and Kellan LoManto and Shay and Cam Siska.
To know Grant was to love him and his zest for life, his devotion to his family, his success as a business owner and his lifetime of community service truly defined the man he was. Grant was also proud to have served in the U.S. Navy.
Originally from Queens, Grant and his wife Pat raised their six children in Port Jefferson Station where Grant coached football for the Moose Lodge and founded the Terryville Soccer Club in the 1970s. In the 1990s Grant and Pat moved to Belle Terre where they lived happily for 25 years and where Grant enjoyed serving as a Trustee for The Village of Belle Terre.
A man of many passions, Grant particularly loved boating, fishing, golfing, traveling, telling long and funny stories, spending as much time as possible with his children and grandchildren, getting together with friends, a good drink and Bobby Thompson of the old NY Giants baseball team.
Thucydides said “what you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments but what is woven into the lives of others.” Grant’s joy, humor, vibrancy and kindness are forever woven into the lives of all who knew and loved him and we are all the better for it. He will be sorely missed.
A visitation for Grant will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776.
