Joanne W. Elsesser

Joanne was the beloved wife of 39 years of the late Harry Elsesser, with whom she shared a life filled with love, devotion, and adventure. Together, they enjoyed traveling the world, visiting destinations such as Eastern China, Africa, Ireland, England, and the Galápagos Islands. At home, they found equal joy tending to their beautiful flower gardens, a reflection of the care and beauty Joanne brought to all aspects of her life. They also shared a deep love for animals, especially their dogs, who were cherished members of the family and brought them endless happiness.

She was a loving and devoted mother to Henry Elsesser (Claudine) and MaryAnne Simmons (Stephen), and an adored “GiGi” to her grandchildren Christopher (Breanne), Bryan (Laura), Mark, Austin (Kelsey), and Yuri (Susan). Joanne was also a cherished great-GiGi to Mason, Ira, Arthur, Hunter, Henry, Ruthie Joanne, Samuel, and Eleanor.

Joanne supported her husband and family in every way she could, always placing their needs above her own. She adored her family deeply and treasured every moment spent with them. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation for Joanne will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will take place at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 429 Route 25A, Setauket, NY 11733. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery.

Joanne’s legacy of love, family, compassion, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
