Crazy the time thats past and yet you pop into my mind every so often such as now (only to realize it is close to your anniversary of when you left us).   I miss our lengthy conversations on the phone.    RIP my friend. 

John was a kind soul , although my interactions were minimal , they were always one of kindness and genuine character .

John was a silent leader , he was someone that everyone liked .People  looked up to him and wanted to be around him. His magnitude was unlike any other.

He possessed wisdom class ,charisma  and integrity .His humble  and peaceful  demeanor was one  of true strength.

I was fortunate to have met such a wonderful person and my condolences go out to his lovely family .  I am so sorry for your loss

I just heard about John's passing and I am in total shock.  I worked at UHCS and John had become a permanent fixture on our blue couch.  He was known to everyone as "Big John". He always made everyone laugh and would help out whenever needed. New residents that moved actually thought he worked for us. He really should have been put on payroll. lol 

Most of our conversations were about his family.  He spoke about all of them with such passion, pride and love.  He was a great person who was taken away too soon.  May you rest in peace John.  Your family should take great comfort in knowing that you are up in heaven guiding and watching over them, especially your nieces. RIP Big John

John was my freshman year college roommate, nicest and humblest person ever.  Always giving me good advice and playing the latest hits of the radio.  I will miss you dearly, but you will always live in my heart.  You are now in God's company in the Heavens.  My sincerest condolences to his entire family.

John was a very close, important and influential friend to me - particularly in our latter years of high school (at DeSisto).  I have refrained from commenting for quite some time - basically because I did not know what to say.  However, I feel compelled to speak.  
I am shocked and saddened by this tragedy and my thoughts & prayers are with all of you during this very difficult time.  
John was a very smart, funny, caring, and genuine person.  
I know he is and will continue to be missed dearly.

I can not begin to express how I feel; didn't know him well, but know the parents, aunts, uncles and his grandparents. I know this family, and know the pain and heartache they are feeling. Your beautiful son, John, was such a special soul. From the first time I met him I felt his warmth and his caring heart. John always made you feel special. His interest in your life was genuine, and his love and enthusiasm for life  was contagious. I loved talking to John, his  breadth of knowledge on  a myriad of subjects was staggering. Each conversation with him always taught me something. I so enjoyed being in his company.
May God give you strength during this saddest of times and may the peace of God enter your hearts. I once heard that God picks the most beautiful flowers from His bouquet first. John was truly one of God's most beautiful flowers.

John Anthony Bou – “Our Big Brother”

I so clearly remember the first time I met John. It was at Jimmy & Crystal's wedding and Christina was very excited I'd be meeting her “little” bro. The reception had just begun when John pulled me aside introduced himself and said, “My sister is an amazing person, you won't find anyone like her and you better treat her right!” What did I do… well I looked way up at him and said OK (he could be a little intimidating when you first meet him)… I was a little surprised but I realized Christina's “little bro” was just protecting her, watching over her, just being her “Big Bro”. As the night went on all John did was ask me questions to make me feel comfortable and welcome. He wanted to know about my children, my family, my job, he wanted to get to know me.

As the years went on and I got closer to John, I realized he was always trying to help. As I watched him interact with family and friends I realized he wasn't just Christina's Big Brother, he was everyone's Big Brother! He watched over everyone, he was everyone's protector. Our conversations always started like this, He'd say hey man how are you? How are the boys? How are they doing in school? When was their last game? How is Christina? Is she stressed? Are you keeping an eye on Julia? No matter what he was going through in life, his primary concern was always me when we spoke. He treated his nieces, his nephews, and my boys like they were his own. When we went to the islands this past February, we couldn't have paid for better bodyguard service than “Apple John” provided for Julia, and Ava in Haiti, Jamaica, and Mexico. He was their Big Brother too, their protector. 

Every time I interacted with John he was looking to help. When my dad had open-heart surgery he was calling and texting he wanted to know every medication and he would research them and get back to me. He would keep calling and checking in throughout my dad's recovery. When I told him ne of my former wrestlers had just finished a biochemistry degree, he wanted his resume to help him with his job search. One time he called to see if my nephew had selected his college yet, I told him yes he was going to Air Force and this website did a nice story about it. As soon as we hung up he texted here's my email please send me link about Conor. 

Never once did John call me and say, Hey I need a favor, or can you do this or that for me. I never heard him say I need this… Big Brothers don't really do much asking for things they just give, and with John it was always that way.  John lit up a room, and he always made you feel special, so important, he was always so interested in your life, that you always left him with a smile on your face!

They say the best way to live is to be more concerned with what you can do for others than what others can do for you. While many of us fall short of this, John Bou lived his life this way! He was our protector, our caretaker, and our big brother. We will miss our Apple John greatly, but we know our guardian angel will continue to watch over us and protect us in ways we can't even comprehend. 

I pray our Heavenly Father gives us the wisdom to understand, and the faith to believe that while we are in a time and place of unbearable sadness, and what seems like unending grief, our Big Brother is watching over us in a place of unimaginable happiness and eternal peace and comfort. We love you John, we miss you and we look forward to seeing your warm smile again some day! Thank You John!

We first met in the law school dorms, over ten years ago.  I'll never forget how intimidated I was by you initially and how that immediately dissipated after one conversation with you.  Only a blind man couldn't see the kind heart beating under that tough exterior.  

We became fast friends.  I'll always remember the great times we had in school and the years later when we came back into the city.  I'll never forget how much you made me laugh, even when I thought there was nothing to laugh about (a particular early morning during law school finals comes to mind.)

You were one of the smartest, kindest and most genuine people I've ever known.  The world is truly worse off without you but I know you are in a better place now.  I'll never forget you, old friend.

My deepest sympathies to the most loving family I have ever known. I am grateful to have shared part of my childhood with all of you. I am praying that God be with you to comfort and strengthen you during this painful time. My heart, thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest in peace John.

I am incredibly saddened by the news of John's passing.  We both shared in a unique passage fron adolescence into manhood at the DeSisto School.  I know that my words cannot assauge the bereavement of such great loss.  Please know that I charish the memories of our shared experience and he remains in my prayers.

I just found out the news of John's passing yesterday, and my heart truly goes out to his family and friends.  Since I was unable to be in attendance at the services, I'd like to share some stories and memories of John here.....

I first met John at our law school orientation.  I saw him walking into the room and I thought to myself "that guy looks so cool, I need to be friends with him!!"  Lucky for me, the feeling was mutual and we became the best of buds really fast.  Once we became close enough, I told him exactly what I thought to myself when he walked into that orientation room and he couldn't help but make fun of me for it - through the years everytime we brought up how i wanted to be his friend because "he looked cool" we would both crack up laughing until or stomachs hurt!  

John, I can't believe we'll never laugh and talk together again. So many memories we have together.....you passing out on my couch in law school and me wrapping you up in my leopard print snuggie so you wouldn't wake up cold, you driving across the law school lawn to pick me up right in front of the building so my friends and I wouldn't have to run out in the rain, you staying on the phone with me during my last few days I was living in the city and talking me through my problems, doing and staying stupid silly things to make each other laugh. I loved telling you about all my crazy and absurd adventures and situations I got into because only you could appreciate them the way I wanted someone to, only you could manage to make my funny stories even funnier with your commentary. All our Throwback Friday postings. Calling each other up at 5am acting as if it were 5pm. Me calling you at 4am every weekend from a different part of the city and you would come pick me up anytime anywhere and take me to wherever I needed to go. Us thinking it was hysterical that noone could understand that we were not a couple. You were truly a good friend to me, with no ulterior motives, which is something I've never found in any other guy. You were like a brother to me. You were so full of life, so smart, so kind, and the most generous human being that lived.  John, you are truly one of a kind, a beautiful soul, and you left the world a better place. The type of friendship we had only happens once in a lifetime.  I wish we could have had more time together, but I will forever cherish the 10 years God gave us.  

It devastates me to know that I'll never get a funny text from you. But I'll never forget the hundreds of memories we made together. I'll always love and miss you John. My favorite "gangsta."  My "BOU."  Your little "OH".....

 I was deeply saddened to hear of John's passing; John was a good friend. I want the Bou family to know that they are in my thoughts and prayers. It is difficult to know what to do in times like these. I would just like to say that we had great times together growing up. You where always a trooper trying to play hockey and basketball with us when you really weren't into sports. I will never forget the good times we had.
