Michael Lombardo, beloved husband and soul-mate to Elaine Catherine, father to Michael and Matthew, brother to John and Robert, son to Helen, nephew to Alfred and Jeraldine, brother-in-law to Omar, son-in-law to Esther, and uncle to his nieces and nephews. He was a dear friend to many. He was kind and considerate to everyone, selfless, and hard-working. He spent his life taking care of everyone he loved. He was a home-body and loved sharing all his spare time with his family, never wishing to leave them for any reason, his joy was entirely his family. He believed in truth and ethics, he believed in consequence and owning up to one’s actions, but most of all he believed in putting others before himself always. His laugh was big and booming, his eyes twinkled when mischievous, and his smile was infectious. Nothing made him happier than to make others laugh. He loved to read, especially on topics of historical figures, going through different phases over the course of his life he studied Winston Churchill, World War II, Abraham Lincoln, the life of Jesus Christ and countless more… the last phase he was studying was the life of Claudius and the Roman Caesars. He loved the Metropolitan Museum of Art and art in general in particular the classic Renaissance period of painting and sculpture and ancient Egyptian art, and loved all things history. His funny side was just as strong as his studious side and loved cartoons and silly humor, Scooby Doo and Looney Toons, he loved classic comic books and superheroes and playing or watching video games, and loved movies especially science fiction, horror, and fantasy, his favorites being Star Wars and Lord of the Rings - he said for their good moral stories. But he loved many things that his family loved because of his great love for them and always was nurturing and supportive of his family’s interests. Music was a big part of his life, especially music from the 1960’s and 1970’s, and his favorite bands were the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Michael was a unique soul who gave all of himself always, and working nights he missed out on many things but never complained. He was just happy he could work and provide the best he could. His passing has left a void that will never be filled and he will be missed more than ever can be put in words. We love you, our Michael. Always.
