Rene L. Andia, of South Setauket, NY, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, just days before her 93rd birthday. Born in Lima, Peru, on February 15, 1932, she was the beloved wife of 54 years to the late Cesar Andia.
Rene was a devoted mother to Luisa Peeker (William) and Liseta Donaghy (Gary). She was a cherished grandmother to Erica Campbell (Joshua Rubin), William Peeker IV (Lisa Tarantino), Kaylan Victoria Bryan (Philip), and Garrison O. Donaghy. Her love extended to the next generation, and she was an adored great-grandmother to Philip A. Bryan.
In 1963, Rene moved to the United States, following Cesar, who had arrived shortly before to prepare for her and their young daughter, Luisa. Together, they built a home that became a welcoming haven for family members in need of support as they started new lives. Family was Rene’s greatest joy, and her home was always open, filled with warmth, love, and generosity.
Rene found happiness in the little things—knitting and crocheting intricate blankets for loved ones (even the family dogs and dolls), celebrating the holidays surrounded by family, and preparing delicious meals. Her signature dish, Lomo Saltado, was a family favorite, bringing everyone together around the table to share in the flavors of her Peruvian heritage.
A visitation for Rene will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 8:15 AM to 8:45 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 AM at St. James R.C. Church, 429 Route 25A, Setauket, NY 11733. Interment will take place at St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery, 490 North Country Road, St. James, NY 11780.
Rene’s kindness, generosity, and deep love for her family will be forever remembered and deeply missed.
