I remember Mama giving Papa a pedi on their bed while he lay back in such comfort except for the part when she nicked his little toe 😂. I had never seen that before and didn’t understand the marriage bond at the time. 
But what loving act on her part to care for him the way she did. I miss them both and look forward to seeing them resurrected along with Uncle Vish and Aunty Ida and Uncle Seeps.

Tribute to my friend Roop Sahatoo 

Roop was a prominent businessman in Couva – and my friend. Having been friends for over thirty years, I enjoyed his friendship. We were a quartet – Seego, Jo, Roop and myself. We shared many limes and laughs in the company his favourite drink Johnny Walker Blue. 
He lived his life to the fullest and though he missed his wife (and as he told me once, his inspiration) Goura tremendously, he channeled his energies into his family, friends, philanthropy and his business downstairs. Roop always helped people who came to him asking for donations and he was instrumental in rebuilding the Couva Mandir and the Home for the Elderly in Couva. Both these projects will continue to serve the community for many years to come.
He engaged in various business enterprises throughout his life.  His first endeavor as a young man was planting rice in the Chaguanas area. I remember his stories of riding his bicycle to Chaguanas in the wee hours of the morning and then back home as darkness fell.  
His business opened promptly at 8am and cognizant of his need to recharge, he closed from 12-2pm reopening until 5pm without fail – rain or shine. He was well-versed in auto parts and accessories, despite having no formal training. 
What I admired most about him was his sense of humor and humility. Roop enjoyed and appreciated life. He celebrated his birthday every year. I particularly remember his 90th birthday bash. His entire family together with his friends joined him and he danced the night away!
Though he has gone to the great beyond, he will forever Roop immortalized in the Couva area as in “We waiting by Roop’s Junction!” I shall always remember him fondly. Though he badly wanted to come home to Trinidad, Roop has gone to his real home.

Uncle Roop was a family treasure for my Dad and Mum now deceased, and Vin, Vinay (sadly died suddenly a day before Uncme Roop) Bernard, Mohini and I. We loved his big heart and joy for family and food... with the biggest smiles always and memories to keep us going .... when we were small and Daddy mentioned a trip to Uncle Roop restaurant .. our eyes lit up! During his surgery in London, I went a couple of times to see him and Auntie to let him know no matter where he was, he was  precious to us. Recently we visited him after our own Mum’s funeral and he insisted that Vin, Mohini and I have  several drinks ... who could refuse him but we told him to please take it light:) we loved him and Vin will miss him dearly, as we all wil! Sending condolences to the Sahatoo family. Rest in Peace, uncle Roop❤️

One of my favourite memories of  pa is spending  time with him and the Sahatoo family.
It was a very memorable experience as a  teenager going upstairs by ma and pa and just enjoying their Comapny while they took the kids and the grand kids down memory lane of their experiences as a couple sharing the adventures they took together !!!!!
I was always amazed listening to pa and being overwhelmed on how  he envisioned his life as a pioneer in the food industry and  what value he could  of bring to the couva community 
He was always willing to share his knowledge 
He was a jolly person always took delight to entertain his friends and family 
His infectious smile and laughter could always light up any dull moment 
The parties he thew that had everyone swinging   And dancing the night away was so memorable 
To be honest their are so many memories 
But one memory always stood out is how much he enjoyed having his family all together with him 
Pa rest in peace you will always be a legend on my eyes 
Thanks for the times !!!!

Grandpa was a loving and caring person the little I get to know him he was my  drinking buddy   With joke and laughter  will miss him a lot and to those he love the most he did not go away he will walk beside you everyday unseen unheard but always near still love  still missed and alway dear to you all   .

So happy to spend many of our youth days celebrating holidays and family moments, with both Pa and Ma, so many good memories and a lot of love here, you will always be remembered papa. I will keep wasting your chaser in you loving memory man, all correct! Pa. And make sure you don’t loose your passport on your journeys. And the picture attached is just to let you know all the cousins still only talk about cars. CHEERS PA!
