William M. Coughlin

William M. (Bill) Coughlin, age 85, of Shoreham, NY passed away April 12, 2014. Born in Hartford, CT on November 14, 1928, Bill was raised in Larchmont, NY, attended Mamaroneck High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Iona College in 1950. After serving honorably in the US Navy during the Korean War, Bill earned his Masters of Science Degree in Taxation from Long Island University, where he also taught.

Bill was a founding partner of the Port Jefferson accounting firm of Coughlin & Foundotos, now known as Cullen and Danowski, LLP. Bill was known for his many years of volunteer service to the Rocky Point Lions Club, St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church, Shoreham Shore Club and the Suffolk County Boy Scouts of America who honored him with Good Scout and Silver Beaver awards. He was a friend to many at St. George’s Golf Club in Setauket, NY.

He was the devoted husband of Peggy Ann Kearney of Jackson Heights, NY who preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law John M. and Diane Coughlin, his sister Mary Hughes and in-laws William and Virginia Kearney and Michael John and Patricia Kearney. He is also survived by his loving children Margaret C. and Kevin Bangston, Noreen Coughlin, Michael and Lisa Coughlin, and his three granddaughters Starr, Sloan and Shea Coughlin.

Visitation will be held at the O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset HIghway, Port Jefferson Station, Long Island. Visitation Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 2-5 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at the Infant Jesus Chapel of St. Charles Hospital on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Coram, Long Island.
