Angelita R. De La Garza, age 84, of Port Lavaca, Texas, was called to our Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 14, 2023 in Austin, Texas. Angelita was born on October 24, 1939 in Tivoli, Texas to the late Gregorio and Paulina Cortez Rodriquez.
Angelita was a cosmetologist and formerly owned a beauty salon. She was also employed as a cook with Calhoun High School and the Senior Center of Port Lavaca. Angelita loved her family, enjoyed gardening, shopping, and was a devout Roman Catholic.
She is survived by her son, Jesus Randy De La Garza of Port Lavaca, Texas; daughter, Rowena J. De La Garza of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Jose Alberto, Jonathan Rene, Michael Paul and Jennifer Pauline De La Garza; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Sanchez of Port Lavaca; numerous nieces and nephews.
Angelita was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Juan Rodriquez of Port Lavaca, Ernest Rodriquez of Racine, WI and Sabino Rodriquez of Victoria; and a sister, Rebecca Martinez of Austin, TX.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Richardson Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca, followed by the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet at 7:00pm.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 at 2:00pm at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca with Father Tommy Chen presiding. Burial will follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery.
