Billie Joyce Prasek passed away May 27, 2026. She was born on August 1, 1931 in Coldspring, Texas. The daughter of William and Bertha Pickering of New Willard, Texas. She attended school in Petronila, Tx.
She also worked in Corpus Christi, Texas where she lived until her mother and step dad moved to Tivoli. It just happened that little Tivoli had a local mercantile and drug store where she worked. Billie met Leo shortly thereafter and were married on Aug. 21, 1949. They were married for 64 years. Leo and Billie traveled a lot during his years in the oilfield which made it hard for them after their oldest son was born. They made Tivoli their permanent home. Billie Joyce was very active in her children’s school activities. She was the cub scouts den mother for her two boys and 4-H den mother for her two girls. Billie loved canning lots of her garden vegetables. She was a very good seamstress and made most of her girls clothes. She loved working in her yard and planting pretty flowers, her roses were so beautiful. She adored her grandchildren, loved drinking coffee every evening with her husband Leo, and watching her westerns on TV. She always said John Wayne was her "hunny". She also loved her hummingbirds in Colorado where her and Leo had their log home. They spent a lot of time fishing, sightseeing and just plain old relaxing. Billie helped Leo and some family members as well as some local towns people operate their convenience store. Mama, Grandma, aka "Granny Goose" will be truly missed.
Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Prasek Sr.; grandson, Christopher; mother, Bertha Scruggs and dad, William Pickering; step dad, Thomas Scruggs; two sisters, Naomi Jacobson and Hazel Johnston; and one brother, Roy Arnold.
Billie is survived by her children, Leo Prasek Jr. and wife Nancy, Debra Lynn and husband Matt Reckling, David Prasek, and Shirley Haney; 6 grandchildren, Kathy, Christie, Brian, Courtney, Casey and Caitlyn; one sister, Willa Mae; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Tivoli Cemetery.
