Chuck Ward, 89, of Port Lavaca passed away July 17, 2018. He was born June 19, 1929 in Oak Park, Illinois to Alvin and Florence Ward. Chuck graduated from Morton High School in Berwyn, IL in 1947, received his Bachelor of Science in 1951 and Masters in Wildlife Management in 1956 both from Colorado State University. He was a retired public relations specialist at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. Chuck was a Methodist and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was very active in the Lions Club since 1956 having served as District Governor for Lions International and President of Lions Club for 3 years. He was Fair Board President for 17 years, President of Texas Association of Fairs and Expositions and a Hospital Volunteer since 2009. Chuck and Joyce were avid travelers and were blessed to travel to almost every country in the world.
He is survived by his son, Dale Ward (Paula) of Sugarland; daughter, Susie Marshall (Stanley) of Port Lavaca; sister-in-law, Linda Ward of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Heather (Dennis) Trinh, Meghan Lehmann (Erich), Kelly Ward, Jonathan Ward, Kyle Marshall (Brytanie) and Eric Marshall (Courtney); and great-grandchildren, Nathan Trinh, Hunter Lehmann, Jacob Lehmann, Graham Marshall, Cora Marshall, Mayven Marshall and Eelyn Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Edith Roberts Ward; son, Douglas Charles Ward; parents; and brother, Richard Ward.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be private.
Honorary Pallbearers are his grandchildren and their spouses.
