Mary Louise Lopez

Mary Louise Velsaquez Lopez, 80, of Port Lavaca, passed away on, Sunday, September 22, 2024. She was born in Port Lavaca, Texas to Joe and Conception Farias Perez Velasquez on February 18, 1944. Mary was married twice in her lifetime, once to Eutiquio Perez, Sr., and then to Benny Lopez. Mary was a Cook for White Cap Restaurant for twenty-two years, owned her own Boutique, Lou’s Boutique, for ten years, and was a DJ for KGL with her call name being La Tejanita.

In addition to her parents, Joe and Conception Velasquez, Mary is preceded in death by her sisters; Celia Hernandez, Pauline Perez Rodriguez, Guadalupe Rodriguez, Knieves Perez, Mary Perez Mendez, Susie Martinez, Mary Helen Rodriguez, and Margarita Hinojosa, brother; Fidel Juan Perez, and Stepbrothers; Abel Velasquez, Amos Velasquez, and Lil Joe Velasquez.

Mary is survived by her sons; Johnny F. Perez, Sr. and his wife Frances Gutierrez, Joe Richard Perez and his wife Dianna, and Eutiquio Perez, Jr., thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 5-7 pm, immediately followed by reciting of the Rosary at 7 pm, all at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11 am at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, with interment immediately following at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Father Richard Barfield officiating.

Honoring her by serving as Pallbearers will be Johnny F. Perez, Sr., Johnny F. Perez, Jr., Joe Perez, Joe Robert Benjamin Perez, Eutiquio Perez, Jr., and Eutiquio Perez, III. Honorary Pallbearers will be Belicia Perez, Elysia Kay Perez, Audrey Nicole Adkins, Kaely Perez, and Kelsey Perez.
