Michael Mier

Michael is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Mier of Port Lavaca TX; his daughters - Carol Sparks (Junior) of Aubrey TX, Patricia Mier (Billy) of Jasper TX, Victoria Chaka (Jerry) of League City TX, Steva Mier of Cave Creek AZ, his sons - Gregory Mier (Kathy) of Marion TX, Christopher Mier (Nora) of Lolita TX; his brothers - Arthur Mier (Sandy) of Bloomington IL, Bob Mier of Myrtle Beach SC, Thomas Mier (Kathy) of Dearborn MI, Bill Mier of Madison Heights MI, his sisters - Kay Byndas (Ted) of Paris TX, Mary Mier (Gene) of West Branch MI; as well as 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Michael was born on July 29, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Arthur William Mier and Kathleen Helen Mier (Cavanaugh). He was an extraordinarily, handsome, loving husband, father, and grandfather who will live in our hearts forever.

He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Dearborn, Michigan in 1959 later to join the United States Navy from 1960-1962. Being stationed in Texas led to his living and raising his family here in Port Lavaca for 46 years. During this time he worked for GTE for 29 years as well as volunteering for the Port Lavaca Fire Department for 25 years.

Memorial service will be held this Saturday March 15th at 3pm at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Celebration of life will follow directly after the service at the Eagles Lodge at 3915 State Highway 35 S in Port Lavaca TX.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to funds setup at both the Port Lavaca Wave and IBC bank to help with funeral expenses.
