Patricia Garcia Delgado, our beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother (Grandma Honey), great-grandmother & aunt, passed away on Monday, January 06, 2025, in Victoria, TX. We miss her tremendously, but we will forever hold her close in our precious memories.
Pat was born in Houston, TX on October 29, 1957, to Bernardo P. and Madeline V. Garcia. In 1962, the family moved to Port Lavaca, TX where Pat was raised along with her 4 younger siblings. She graduated from Calhoun High School; during those years, Pat enjoyed her time in band as a flutist and twirler. She later earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from Victoria College, following in her mother’s and aunt’s footsteps in that honorable occupation.
Pat worked as a registered nurse for several area hospitals in Port Lavaca, Victoria, and San Antonio. Her passion to provide compassionate healthcare led her to hold nursing positions in the specialty fields of orthopedic, medical/surgical, ICU, emergency and home health patient nursing care. She also practiced occupational nursing care at Alcoa Corporation in Point Comfort.
Always dedicated to her faith, Pat was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca as well as the Catholic Daughters of America. Additionally, she served her community by volunteering with the state and national Democratic parties and Calhoun County Elections Department.
Grandma Honey was a loving, strong and passionate matriarch who was deeply devoted to her family and was dearly loved in return. She was a true friend to many whose hearts she tenderly touched. She had a hearty sense of humor and a particular fondness for Calvin & Hobbes that she loved to share with all. She enjoyed travel, cherishing opportunities to visit her siblings and experience new places with her friends.
Grandma Honey is survived by her sons Philip Peña, James Delgado and Mario Delgado; grandchildren Raven Garcia, Izabella Reyna, Isaiah Aguero and Marta Aguero; and great-grandchildren Katalina Castillo and Aiyana Mendoza.
She is also survived by her beloved parents Bernardo and Madeline Garcia, siblings Margaret Garcia, Martina Sutton, Martin Garcia, and Elizabeth Barnes, nieces Allison Lane, Samantha Sutton, and Piper Garcia-Deligiorgis, and nephews Breese Barnes, Robert Sutton, and Mateo Garcia-Deligiorgis.
Her family extends their deep gratitude to the ER staff at Memorial Medical Center in Port Lavaca and the ICU staff at Detar Hospital in Victoria for their compassionate and kind care during her final hours.
Pat’s family will have a funeral mass on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church at 415 W Austin in Port Lavaca,TX at 9am followed by a Celebration of Life at the Church’s St. Jude Hall immediately following the mass.
