Danny Lee Stigers, age 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Port Orange, FL, on August 16, 2024. He was born August 29, 1956, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to Cloyd and Margaret Stigers.
Danny grew up in Winter Haven, Florida, graduating from Winter Haven High School where he was a stand-out multi-sport athlete playing football, baseball, and basketball. He also developed a deep interest in horticulture, leading to later jobs as a Superintendent at Sky View Golf Club in Lakeland, FL.
He later went on to complete HVAC trade school in Winter Haven, FL. He dedicated over 45 years of his life to the HVAC commercial industry throughout Central Florida. Throughout his career, Danny took immense pride in his work, often sharing stories of the projects he was a part of, including the Kia Center (formerly Amway), Advent Hospital in Orlando, and various buildings on the Space Coast.
Danny was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud Papa D. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy Stigers; his children, Adam James (Danielle) Stigers of South Daytona, Abbey Caitlin (Stacy) Stigers of Orlando, and Heather Sharp of Cincinnati, Ohio; and his cherished grandchildren, Dalton, Olivia, and Charlotte of South Daytona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cloyd and Margaret Stigers.
The thing about it is, Danny had a passion for life that was evident in everything he did. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, and his love for NASCAR and football, particularly rooting for the Florida Gators was well-known. But perhaps what truly set Danny apart was his incredible ability to fix, build, or remodel just about anything. Whether it was a complex home project or a simple repair, Danny was the go-to guy for his wife, children, friends, and neighbors. His do-it-all attitude and willingness to help made him a reliable and cherished figure in the lives of those who knew him.
Danny was heavily involved with the Boy Scouts with his son. He spent many years coaching his children’s basketball teams for the Port Orange Rec department, even taking on two teams at once, boy and girls, in the same season.
Danny had a natural ability to connect with people—he could start a conversation with anyone and, within minutes, would know where they grew up and what they valued most. His sense of humor, warmth, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Despite facing health challenges in the last few years of his life, Danny remained a source of joy and laughter to those around him. His legacy will be one of love, resilience, and the countless stories and memories he shared with his family and friends.
A celebration of Danny's life will be held Monday, August 26, 2024, where family and friends are invited to come together and honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests spending time doing something you love with those you care about, just as Danny would have done.
A visitation for Danny will be held Monday, August 26, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, Florida, followed by a celebration of life service from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
