He attended Flint Southwestern and Grand Blanc High School. He married Rebecca (Lipe) in 1984. James studied computer science at UM Flint while working at General Motors Truck and Bus in Flint and Pontiac. Retiring from GM after 34 years, Jim and Becky moved to Torch Lake, Michigan, where he had fun working at the Traverse City Airport for several years and got a kick out of collecting autographs from celebrity passengers; fodder for his stories. Jimmy was a great writer and during hunting season he loved sitting in his blind, composing “Jimmy the Hunter” stories, an early online blog he sent out to family, full of funny quips about his misadventures in the woods. He loved the lake and enjoyed giving tours of the area on their pontoon boat. Jim loved his family and was greatly entertained by his grandchildren. He had many interests, and was passionate about playing music. He shared his love of music as a worship leader. Since moving to Florida, Jimmy played keyboard with a local R and B band, Blu Highway. He was an avid sports enthusiast, and loved playing baseball, golf and hockey. James was often seen riding his bike in the neighborhood, visiting with people and learning the neighborhood news. “Uncle Jimmy” was a family favorite. Jimmy had a dynamic personality with a unique ability to make everyone feel important and special. He had many lifelong friends. Many have said that Jim lit up a room, but he would tell you the source of his light was Jesus the Christ who transformed him. He had a servant’s heart and loved helping people.
He leaves behind a legacy of living life to the fullest with his love for family and God.
