John F Mayhew Sr.

John F. Mayhew Sr. 94 passed away February 21, 2011. John was born September 12, 1916 in Worcester, MA son of the late Alfred and Mary (Kennelly) Mayhew. A long time resident of CT, John retired in 1979. In 1981 he sailed his 43’ wooden Wheeler "The Seavonne" to Marathon, FL where he lived for 25 yrs. He will always be remembered as a man of many talents. He was a life member of five different Power Squadrons and past commander with 37 Merit Marks. Left to cherish his memory is son John F. Mayhew Jr. and his wife Alice of Port Orange , grandchildren; Mary Katherine (Gabriel) Valente, Ct. and Christopher John Mayhew, TN ; great granddaughter, Allison Mayhew, TN and one sister Barbara Cliford,, CT. Besides his parents he is predeceased by his wife Yvonne Katherine and daughter Yvonne Ellen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 8:30 am Tuesday March 8, 2011 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 4675 Clyde Morris Blvd. Port Orange. The family requests donations be made in his memory to St. Vincent DePaul Society.
