

Nadia Peterson, 85, of Port Orange FL passed away peacefully in her sleep December 29, 2016. Born in Barga (Lucca), Italy, she came to this country in the 1950’s and settled in a suburb of Chicago, where she met her husband of 61 years, Howard Peterson Sr. He survives. They moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1975, and owned and operated the Bermuda Villas locally.
Personally, Nadia enjoyed bowling, knitting, and crocheting along with traveling and cooking, especially tortellini, pasta, and pizzelles. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Nicholas) Russ of Edgewater, FL, Patricia Van Duyne of Daytona Beach FL, and Howard (Candy) W. Peterson Jr. of New Smyrna Beach; siblings: Leda Bennett of Ponte Vedra, FL, Domenic Ori of Marquette, MI, and Walter Ori of Highwood, IL; and one grandson, Christopher Van Duyne of Port Orange, FL. Nadia was preceded in death by a granddaughter Sarah Beth King, and brother Marino Ori.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 5p-7p in the chapel of Shannon Maloney Funeral Home, 4084 Halifax Dr., Port Orange FL with a Funeral Service held the following afternoon, Wednesday 1/4/17 at 2pm in the chapel. Entombment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park.
