Noel C. Nelson, 65, of Port Orange, FL passed away suddenly on Friday, December 11,2015 due to injuries sustained in a traffic accident. Born 12/8/1950 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Carl & Mary (Dyer) Nelson, Noel spent most of his life in New England, relocating to Florida in 2013 after the death of his wife, Diane. Survived by two daughters, Karla Knight of Port Orange, FL and Andrea Drummond of Jackson, TN, he also leaves behind two sisters, Jill Daponte of Cranston, RI and Jacqueline MacDonald of Narragansett, RI in addition to two step-children and nine grandchildren. Noel enjoyed cars, racing (especially NASCAR), and became a sports fan later in life - always supporting the Patriots and other New England area teams. Known for his big heart, he was always there for his friends and family, helping to fix whatever needed mended. An electrician by trade, Noel also enjoyed motorcycles - working on them, riding them, or building them. He was particularly proud of his ability to build items from scratch, including a fully functional, wooden scooter he once built with his father, based solely on drawings from Popular Mechanic. Supportive and always in a good mood, Noel's kindness, generosity, laughter, and smile will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones. A private memorial service will be held at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers or cards, the family requests donations be made to Pawsibilities Rescue Group, a no kill animal rescue group in Port Orange, FL dedicated to saving lives and promoting responsible pet care/ownership.
