Shelby Jo Thompson 71, passed away Monday February 25, 2013 at Halifax Health Medical Center, Shelby was born in Robertsbury W VA, daughter of the late Ada and Orval Bush. A longtime resident of this area Shelby was devoted to her faith and was a member of the Greater Daytona Church of Christ. She felt it was important for her family to also have a strong understanding of her faith. A beloved mother, mother-in-law, granny, sister, aunt, friend and coworker she enjoyed teaching and was a respected professional in her field. For over 40 years she worked as a surgical technologist and a surgical assistant at Halifax Hospital and was a mentor to many. Helping others was important in her life as was her family and grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory is her son Joseph and his wife Janna; daughter Michele Fannin and her husband Lewis; sister Kathy Witte and her husband Ernesto. Her niece Dawn Witte; her beloved Grandsons Trey and Van Thompson and Joshua Ellis; Her partner Don Wittler and many friends and colleagues. A graveside service will be held 12 noon Saturday March 2, 2013 at Volusia Memorial Park 550 N Nova Road Ormond Beach.
