Walter (Sonny) H. Goerke, 89, of Port Orange, passed away Sunday July 19, 2015 at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center. Sonny was born in Buffalo, New York, son of Walter and Wilhelmina Goerke and honorably served in the U.S. Navy. In 1946 he married the former Audrey Koblich and they have shared 69 wonderful years together. Sonny a retired truck driver has been a resident of this area since 1986. He always enjoyed being around people and was a former activities director at LaCosta Village, a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, the Moose Club, VFW, American Legion and was an avid golfer. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Audrey; three children, Sherry Ruddy (husband Peter) of Marco Island, FL, Cathy Bardwell, Amherst, NY and Michael (wife Shari) of Port Orange, FL. Loving Grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Predeceased by a grandson Walter Bardwell. At Sonny’s request funeral services will be private.
