Later today your friends and family will be getting together in remembrance of you for your first year in heaven.  It has been a long and difficult year, however we made it with your help. Knowing that you are in the best place you could ever be and that you will never feel pain again is what gives me the strength to continue forward. I am doing my best to be the best person I can be to make you proud of me. I am extremely blessed to have been given the honor to be your mom. Thank God and thank you for that privilege. Going to your funeral was harder than yesterday I went up to see you this time. I touched you. I seen how amazing you looked. You had a lot of roses and 2bags of doritos I broke down leaving. I just returned home from my dear friend, Veronica ' s son's visitation. When I met Veronica when she came to work for the County her kids were young. Now her daughter is a beautiful young woman, and David was a very handsome charming man taken without warning from her for too soon and tragically. I actually wanted to write a Dear David letter to tell him how very very proud his Madre was of him. She and I both had boys who at times we wondered if they would grow up ok. We had a discussion a few month's ago and she could not have been more proud of her David, much like I am of my son Jed. As I sat there and watched the beautiful slide show of what must have been 100 pictures, there was only 1 where he was not smiling. And by smiling I am talking about a huge heartfelt make everyone else around him smile, smile.. Light up the room smile. David, your mom is one of the strongest women I know (and I know alot of them). She is moving through this tragedy with grace and the wisdom that God has a purpose for taking you from her too soon. She is being her usual rock solid self holding everyone together. That room tonight was full of sobbing people so please know your loss is hitting people hard. You were obviously very loved by all. Your mom, Daniela and your grandma will eventually adjust, but will never stop missing or loving you. And let me tell you what, I saw alot of pictures of you today, but none compared to how handsome you looked tonight. Very sharp looking, When you are received into heaven, you'll be the best dressed hombre there with THE best hair. We will love your mom through this. Rest in Peace, David.

David, I'm still trying to wrap my head around you being gone. You were such an amazing person, so full of life and love. I would do anything to bring you back. You always gave the best hugs. You knew I wasn't a very hugging person, but you didn't care and would always give me one! You're probably laughing at me for all the crying I've done, but it's okay it just shows you how much I care. I pray for you and your family. I hope you have reunited with your friends and you have found peace. I will never forget you nor could I ever imagine forgetting you. I am blessed to have known you and to have you call me your friend. I love you! Until I see you again, Big Homie.

David I will never forget your crazy,big,loud sense of humor. Even if you were sad you would never show it. Words can't express the sadness I felt when I found out you were taken so young. Thank you for endless laughter. Whenever you sense I'm in a bad mood, rather than having me talk it out, you try to make me feel better, usually with jokes and terrible singing. You always know the right thing to say to put a smile on my face and to make my stomach hurt from laughter. Thank you for being there at all hours of the day. Sometimes when it seems like no one cares, you always make a point to show that you do. I'm afraid to bother other people with my problems, but you're always more than willing to talk to me. You rationalize everything I say and talk sense into me when I'm being ridiculous. Thank you for encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone. It may take some persuasion and maybe even some bribing, but you always convince me to try new things. Thanks for being a blessing to this earth. Your generosity is inspiring. You take the word kind to a whole new level. I strive to one day to be half as nice as you are. Thank you for supporting me. You always encourage me to follow my dreams and to aim high. Nothing seems unreachable when I'm talking about it with you. Thank you for your constant positivity. You've never had a terrible outlook on life, even when nothing is going your way. It's a reminder for me to stay strong when things aren't looking too great because the storm will always pass. You always help me imagine a more positive outcome and stop me from letting my mind wander to the worst case scenario. Thank you for sticking by my side all of this time. I know I'm a lot to handle, and I'm sure I annoy the hell out of you all the time. So thanks for putting up with me and never complaining. I love you brother.

No matter how much time anyone got to spend with David it was never enough, he is so full of life and laughter. I never went one day without a smile or laughing myself to tears because of him. David always knew what to say to make my day or to remind me he was thinking of me. You've left your mark on my life forever babe, even though we didn't get a whole lot of time together, I hope you know every second I got with you I cherished it, I made sure I stared as much as I could at you so I could remember all of your face, all the small things..you always wondered why I took so many pictures of you, because when someone goes on to a better place the pictures and memories will be all we have. My sweet David, I'm really gonna miss you and all the talks we shared.  You were always such a fine young man, raised in gentlemanly ways.  Always so polite, loving and giving.  You were another son to me. How I wish I could hear your voice again, saying Hi mama. I wish you were still here, but now I longer worry about Chris being alone in heaven, for now he is with one of his closest friends. We love you David, until we see each other again.
