April 15th at the age of 73 years. Jeannie was born Eugenia Louise Schaffer, the daughter of
Stanley and Dorothy Schaffer, in York, PA.
She grew up in Pittsburgh, PA; received her BS in Computer Science in 1968 from the Pennsylvania State University; and worked for almost 40 years for the Federal Government at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the U.S. Department of Energy in the Washington, DC area. During her employment, she received numerous awards and was the U.S. representative on an International Atomic Energy Agency committee. She also visited multiple countries to present her work activities associated with improving the safety of employees and the general populace.
After retirement, Jeannie moved to FL and was active in the start-up of Living Faith Church and
served on the Council; was on the Board of the Bridge Christian Outreach, which ran a food
pantry and diaper ministries; and was a trained and active Stephen Minister. She also provided
support to the Rafiki Orphanage and other schools in Ghana, financially and during a mission
trip there.
In personal life, Jeannie enjoyed traveling to other countries to meet the people and learn their
cultures. She also loved to help people in whatever way possible, both through formal and
informal methods. Her motto was “ Get busy living, or get busy dying,” so, as a result, she
lived a very active life. She had a deep love of God, the ocean, and her grandchildren and she
gained peace and strength through them. She remained always hopeful and determined,
despite multiple terminal diagnoses.
Jeannie is survived by her daughter Alisa Glinisty, Alisa’s husband Justin, and their eight
children Sammy, Jonah, Janie, Audee, Caleb, Sophie, Danny, and Phoebe, who live in Easley,
SC. She is also survived by her daughter Becky Grandin, Becky’s husband Jeff, and their two
children Abby and Garrett, who live in Rockville, MD. In addition, Jeannie is survived by her
sister Barbara Moore, and Barbara’s children Jeff and Chris, who live near Harrisonburg, VA.
