Susan was born to the late John B. and Eleanor Nafis nee Ehlers in Mineola, New York. She grew up in New York and moved to Lake Worth, Florida in the late 1950's, before relocating to Hawaii. In 1968 she moved back to Pembroke Pines, Florida before spending a few years in Alaska. In 1994 Susan settled back in Florida on The Treasure Coast for good. Susan worked in retail for many years retiring very recently from Boar's Head due to failing health. She ran Port St. Lucie Cancer Group and was a grief counselor for Grace Church in Port St. Lucie. She loved her family very much and lived for her grandsons. Susan enjoyed ceramic painting. She enjoyed her cocktail of either Bloody Mary's or White Russians. She was a travel enthusiast in her younger years and lived a short time in Australia. Her yorkie-poo puppy, Callee will miss her dearly. Susan was always young at heart an referred to herself as a recycled teenager, always dressing young and trying to stay active and young.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Allan MacPherson; and brother, Norman Nafis.
Survivors include her daughter, Teri Shoemaker (Mark), of Port St. Lucie, Florida; son, David Maldon (Julie), of Jonesborough, Tennessee; grandsons, Colton Shoemaker-Howard (Clinton), of Port St. Lucie and Connor Shoemaker (Jessica), of Olympia, Washington; sister-in-law, Susie MacPherson; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration Gathering will take place on Saturday December 8, 2018 from 12pm-1pm with a Memorial Service at 1 pm at Aycock Life Celebration Center, 12571 SW Tradition Parkway Port St. Lucie, Florida 34987.
