

Portland-Allen Ross Jackson, 71, died Thursday at Maine Medical Center. He was born in Portland February 8, 1939 a son of the late J. Allen and Corinne Wood Jackson. He attended local schools graduating from Deering High School in 1957. He attended Wentworth Institute, Boston and Tri-State College, Angola, IN. He had retired as head of maintenance of Regional Waste Systems.
Mr. Jackson was very active with the Victoria Society where he volunteered as a docent, giving many tours of the mansion. He would also give presentations about the mansion to various organizations and schools. He was a past commander of the Casco Bay Power Squadron, a 44 year member of Deering Lodge #183 AF&AM, a member of all Scottish Rite Bodies of Portland where he had been Thrice Potent Master of Yates Lodge of Perfection 1993-1995,a member of St. Albans Commandry and was a 33rd degree Mason. Allen was a former member of Kora Shrine , a member of the Maine Charitable Mechanics Association, a member of the National Rifle Association, had belonged to the Forest City DeMolay, was a past president of Port City High Twelve Club and was a member of Central Square Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lynne F. Cunningham Jackson of Portland, one son, Brian S. Jackson and his wife Cathy of Portand, one sister, Elisabeth J. Brown and her husband Robert of Portland, 4 grandchildren, Kayla Jackson, Courtney Jackson, Lauren Jackson and Sam Inman, brother-in-law, Wallace Cunningham and wife Mary of Mass., sister-in-law, Anne Hoskote and her husband Raj of Fl., several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Verena M. Cunningham of Portland.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, Tuesday, 2-4 & 6-8 PM where Deering Lodge #183 will conduct ritualistic services at 7 PM. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 1 PM at the funeral home, the Rev. Dr. Judith H. Blanchard officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
