

Beatrice Ella Cormier, 81, of Portland passed away November 8, 2011 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born December 31, 1930 a daughter of the late Austin and Katherine (Leeman) Lund.
Beatrice was a member of Stevens Ave Congregational Church. She was featured in the Boston Globe as the gal with the Colgate Smile. Beatrice was proud of fighting City Hall in Portland and winning her battle to save Public Transportation bus #8. She waitressed throughout Maine and had many patrons follow her to some of the local restaurants, Sportsman Grill, Cafe Garden and Christie's. Anyone she met she befriended them, she met no strangers. Beatrice enjoyed reading the bible, ballroom dancing with her husband Marcel and traveling with her brother George to the American Legion in Gray. She will be remembered for her giving nature, donating to several charities. Beatrice was best known for her famous peanut butter fudge in which she always delivered to the local Post Office, corner store and her doctors offices. Her family and friends will miss her radiating sunshine in which she portrayed wherever she went.
Beatrice is survived by her children: Demerise K. Cormier of Durango, CO, Marcel P. Cormier of Gardiner, Diane M. Cormier of Portland, Deborah (Debbie) Smith and her husband Walter of Old Orchard Beach, and Paul A. Cormier of Waterville; 3 grandchildren: Steven, Nicholas, Jennifer and their families; 8 great-grandchildren; her siblings: George W. Lund of Corpus Christi, TX, Margaret Fisk of Scarborough, Francis Lund of Gray, Betty Gaudet and husband John of Westbrook, Randall Lund of Topsham, and Lawrence Lund of Brunswick; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Marcel A. Cormier in 1977, her daughter Joanne C. Cormier in 1990 and her siblings: Shirley, Judy, Marshall, Elwood, Wendall and Richard.
Family and Friends are invited for a time of visitation from 9-10 am Saturday, November 12 at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St., Portland where a Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am. Interment will be held privately.
