

Donald Leon McPhee,76, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 29, 2017. He was born in Portland, Maine to Donald and Lorraine McPhee, he lived most of his life in Portland and was loved very much by Esther his grandmother and her son Eddie Carr.
Don was a passionate man who enjoyed horse racing at Scarborough Downs, he was an avid storyteller, New England sports fan and loved antiquing. He worked as the Banquet Manager at the Eastland Hotel and then as a custodian at the Scarborough School Department and then moved on to become a School Bus Driver for the town of Scarborough and South Portland. He loved spending time with his family and taking his grandchildren to the Shrine Circus. While in school at Portland High School he held a record for the track and field team for the mile run. In his spare time he enjoyed working flea markets at Scarborough Downs and spending time with friends and family.
Don was extremely loving and proud of his family. He was survived by his three daughters: Terri and Pammie of Old Orchard Beach, and Dawn and her husband Peter of Windham, along with his grandchildren: Eric, Natasha, Collin, Peter, Carrie, many great grandchildren and his dear friend Bob Fillian. He is also survived by his Uncle Gene Carr of Portland. He was predeceased by his brother Stevie McPhee, his good friend John Moreau.
The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, January 7th, 2018 from 2pm until 6pm at the Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home at 199 Woodfords Street in Portland.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations may be made in Don’s name to the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals.
