Doris lived most of her life in Westbrook, raised her family in Windham, and recently resided in Gorham. She worked for the Westbrook School Department and at Hannaford for many years before retiring. She was a devout Roman Catholic and an active participant in her parish, serving as a member of the St. Edmund’s Folk Group and the St. Hyacinth Funeral Ministry, and was involved in many prayer groups over the years. She had many interests and hobbies, which enabled her to lead a full life. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family and making memories. She found great joy in holiday gatherings, especially the Christmas season; family cookouts; working in her flower and vegetable gardens; spending time at the lake; enjoying sunsets from her home on the River Road; lunch with her brothers; embroidering and tole painting, and then sharing these creations with her family members; and she often said how much she loved parades. We are quite certain that Doris is pleased that her funeral and burial will take place during Westbrook Together Days!
Doris was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Dick Larrivee, Onile Larrivee, and Pauline Fecteau.
Doris is survived by her six children. Peter Tanguay and his wife, Liz of Gorham; Julie Lessard and her husband Jerry of Standish; Tony Tanguay and his wife Lisa of Gorham; Albert Tanguay and his wife Brenda of Saco; Liz Grant and Beth Madison of Windham; and Rachel Burke and her husband Bill of Westbrook; and her sister-in-laws Martha Larrivee, Dawna Larrivee, Rita Tanguay, Ida Tanguay, Yvette Girouard, Margaret Palmer and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Doris is the proud grandmother of 15 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, and 20 great-grandchildren, with 2 more expected this summer. Doris’s children and the generational connection with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her joy and are her greatest legacy.
Thanks to all of her family and medical caregivers over the past few months, including Northern Light Hospice, for providing her with compassionate care.
We Love You Mom/Mémère!
Doris’ Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on June 5, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 268 Brown St, Westbrook.
