

Falmouth --- Douglas Alfred Fearing passed away from lung cancer at his home on Oct.30, 2014. He was born in Northampton, Massachusetts, on Dec.5, 1961 the son of Alfred Fearing, Jr., and Nancy (Thompson) Fearing. Douglas attended Greely High School, Cumberland, Maine, until he became disabled at age 16, due to the development of schizophrenia. As he went through his journey of learning to cope with mental illness, Doug was always happy to help others. He was kind and sociable, and loved people. Doug had a wonderful sense of humor and never lost his positive attitude. He found the greatest joy in life through music.
Douglas leaves behind his mother, Nancy Fearing of Falmouth; devoted brother Stephen L. Fearing and wife Jean R. Fearing of Portland; a beloved niece and nephew, Marion F. Fearing of Brighton, England, and Christopher A. Fearing of So.Portland, along with their mother, Catherine V. Fearing, also of So.Portland; and first cousin and best friend, John A. Thompson of Medfield, Mass.
Doug lived for over 30 years in Boston, a city that he came to love. There, he was able to receive help for his mental illness. The family wishes to thank the following organizations and institutions and their dedicated staffs for the support they gave Douglas when he needed it most:

Doug had success working for many years at "Webster House". Friends and family are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday November 7, 2014 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the Jones, Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, Maine. A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM following the visitation. Interment will follow at the South Buxton Cemetery, Tory Hill, Buxton.
