

Eleanor Ruth (Harlow) Leavitt, 101, passed away on January 23, 2015 in Damariscotta, ME. This warm, generous woman, daughter of Edward R. Harlow and Kathlene McFarlane, was born in Portland and happily spent most of her life there.
Ruth, as she was known to most, worked at a few area schools and retired after many years as the cafeteria manager at Portland High School. She enjoyed boating, ice fishing and generally spending and time with family at the cabins on Highland and then Thompson Lakes. After retirement she and her husband loved to travel with friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Leavitt, and her sister, Dorothy Skillings. She will be missed by her son Harlow Leavitt and his wife, Dian, of Manila, UT; son Dana Leavitt and his wife, Patricia, of Bristol, ME and Bonita Springs, FL; grandchildren Verta, Lee, Lorie, Troy, Karen, Dana and John; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, February 5, at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland, ME; where a funeral service will be held following visitation at 12:00 PM.
