

Portland, Maine- Frances Aceto Conley, was born July 27, 1927. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 3, 2015. She was born in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Vincenzo and Josephine (Addario) Aceto. She was one of eleven children, who grew up in Little Italy on Newbury St. She attended Portland schools and also worked for the Portland Public School Department. On November 1, 1947 she married John F. Conley, Sr. Together they had 4 children.
Fran, also known to many as Nanny, enjoyed cooking, going to bingo, playing cards, the horse races, but most of all she enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved baking her Italian cookies at Christmas time with family. When friends and family came to visit Nan, she never let them leave hungry, always cooking the best sauce and meatballs and Italian soups for all those who came to see her. She was admired by so many for her strength and compassion. She was the best mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, wife, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, always putting others before herself.
She was predeceased by her parents and beloved son, Timothy J. Conley, Sr. and recently her grandson, Timothy J. Conley, Jr. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Jenny, Mary, Tony, Irene and her long time best friend, Eddy McPhail.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Rogers and her husband Bruce of Portland, James Conley and his wife Ruth, of Windham, John Conley and his wife Peggy of Portland. Her daughter in law Vickie Conley of Scarborough, who called her every morning for 36 years. She has many, grandchildren and great grandchildren who will deeply miss her every day.
Graveside services will be located at Calvary Cemetery (New Section), South Portland, Maine on Friday August 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at Parker's Restaurant on Washington Ave. in Portland at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Maine Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion they provided through this difficult time.
