

Jay Allen Kovensky, 54 passed away Sunday September 18, 2011. He was born June 15, 1957 at Brighton Medical Center Portland, ME. He graduated from Deering High School, and went on to study classical music with the great Arlene Winger for four years. He also played drums and guitar. He joined the well known Gary Black and the Whites band, and for six years they performed around New England at clubs and colleges. He managed VIP auto service stores in Portland, Lewiston and Sanford.
He married and leaves a son Jacob Tyler, his granddaughter Olivia, his mother Virginia Kovensky and close cousins and extended family members. In 1992 a car accident disabled Jay to a wheelchair, after which he became involved with auto racing, wheelchair racing and building and repairing computers. He donated much of his time building and repairing computers for his friends, family and his church. Jay also loved photography and animals. He had many good friends. He will be missed, and he was loved by his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Monday, Sept.26, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, Maine.
