

Born May 21, 1942 to William A. & Lucille E. (Gill) Butler in Cambridge MA. She was educated in the Cambridge School system, later working until she married her sweetheart, Joseph M Graham III on September 7, 1963.
Living in both Cambridge, then Dorchester & finally settling in Natick MA where they decided to raise their three children. Residing in Natick until 2003, when the Graham’s retired to Sarasota FL and Wells, ME.
Joan was a kind, loving & compassionate woman, who lived her Catholic faith following the teachings of Jesus Christ. She was always doing more for others than herself, especially the marginalized. Joan was active in many things during her time in Natick, whether it was town politics, PTA, Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick’s Church in Natick for several years, doing all she could for the Natick Service Council & a longtime member of De Colores.
In 2023, Joan & Joe returned to New England (Portland, ME) full-time to be closer to their children. Moving finally to Acton ME with their daughter, Christine in April 2025.
Joan was a loving Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Daughter In-Law, Sister In-Law, Mother In-Law, Nana, Great Nana & friend. She was predeceased by her parents, William A. & Lucille E. Butler, Her Brother James, In-Laws Joseph M. Graham II & Margret R. (McCarty) Graham, Brother In-law Donald Doucette, Grand Daughter Kasey Bryan, Sons In-Law Russell Thome & Robert L. Bryan.
She Leaves behind her Husband of 62 years, Joseph M. Graham III, Sisters Carole Phillips of Sarasota FL, Barbara Dorsey & her husband Walter of Wolfeboro NH, Brother In-Law John P. Graham & his wife Phyllis (Marson) Graham, son David M. Graham & his wife Meghan Pelrine of Belmont MA, Daughters Christine D. Thome of Acton ME, Beverley J. Bryan & her partner Mike Costello of Ft. Lauderdale FL and Kennebunk ME. Granddaughter Klaryssa Bryan of Limerick ME, Grandsons Max & James of Belmont MA, her Great Granddaughters Rylee, Makayla & Sophia of Limerick ME, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many dear friends.
The Graham family would like to thank the ladies who provided such loving care for Joan during her period of declining health, Nevaeh, Kassidy, Lexie, Ashley & Olivia, they were Mom’s Angels.
There are no services, but a celebration of life this summer with friends and family.
