

PORTLAND – Mildred Susan Knapp, 87, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Residence and Rehabilitation Center where she lived for the past several years. She was born on May 22, 1924 in Amity, ME. The daughter of the late John and Ida (Mushrow) Knapp and was the youngest of four children.
She attended Houlton High School and worked at Bristol Hospital in Connecticut and also worked for her mother’s various businesses. Mildred also cared for her mother until she passed in 1985 at the age of 91. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, cooking, baking and entertaining visitors. She loved and raised many cats and enjoyed their companionship. She also enjoyed two dear friends, Jim Streeter of Tuscan, AZ and Claude Pelletier of Portland.
She is predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy McLain of Gorham and Clara Butt of Portland.
She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Caminiti of Bristol, CT; nephews, Robert Butt of Standish, Dennis McLain of Annandale, VA, Jeffrey McLain of Gorham; nieces, Linda Caminiti of Honolulu, HI, Cathy Huntley of Southington, CT and Brenda Sharlpes of Bristol, CT.
Graveside Service Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11 am in Brooklawn Memorial Park.
