

Born Nancy Louise Moses, born December 2nd 1923 in Dexter, Maine to Mary Louise Knowles and Charles Thomas Moses Jr. She grew up in Dexter and graduated from Dexter High School as Valedictorian and National Honor Society member. She went on to attend the University of Maine and graduated Phi Betta Kappa. She then enjoyed her position as English Teacher at Hamden Academy, Hamden, Maine.
Nancy married Floyd R. Beecher in 1947 and moved to Portland, Maine where she helped her husband establish The Beecher Agency Real Estate company in 1949. They later moved to Cape Elizabeth, Maine were they lived for many years and raised their two children.
Nancy was very active in her community including Volunteering on the Board Of Park Danforth, the Junior League of Portland, State Street Church ,and the Cape Elizabeth Garden Club. She was an avid tennis player and talented gardener.
In 1972 she married her second husband Dwight W. Pierce of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. They shared their life in Cape Elizabeth and were always surrounded by wonderful friends and extended family. They loved entertaining, traveling, spending time with their children and grandchildren, The Portland Symphony, local theatre, taking walks with their Collie dog Dundee and extended summer vacations at Popham Beach. They also enjoyed many winters in Fort Meyers, Florida where they played tennis and golf with their Maine friends and family.
Nancy was known to be very welcoming and always approaching life looking at the bright side. She was selfless and most generous. If someone spoke disparagingly of a mutual acquaintance she could be heard to say ” She always spoke highly of you .”
After Dwight passed in 2007, she left Cape Elizabeth to relocate in Scarborough, Maine. She enjoyed her new home at Scarborough Terrace where she felt very comfortable and safe.
She passed gracefully on the evening of Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her older brother Carl K. Moses of Darien, Connecticut. She is survived by her daughter: Mary Ann Beecher Saxby and her Husband Kenneth Johnson of Buxton, her son: Bruce R. Beecher and wife Janet of Scarborough, and her grandsons :Thomas R. Saxby, and Page A. Beecher and granddaughter Christine L. Beecher, step-daughters Polly Pierce Morgenstern of Colorado, Abigail Pierce Vogler of California and their children and grand children .
She will be interred with Dwight at the Cape Elizabeth Riverside Cemetery. Nancy's family wishes to welcome family and friends to a reception and celebration of her life at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral, 199 Woodford St, Portland on Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 12 - 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, she would appreciate donations to your favorite charity.
