

Scarborough- Norma McGill, 80, of Portland passed away November 12, 2012 peacefully in her sleep with her daughter by her side. She is now reunited with the love of her life, Danny, and with her “granddoggers”. The daughter of Bayard and Emily (Tuck) Allen, she was born in Presque Isle Maine on October 29, 1932. She attended Greeley High School and later became a C.N.A. In 1964 she married Daniel McGill, and then after divorcing, they reunited in marriage on June 21, 1986 until his death March 31, 1993. Norma worked as a welder and then became a C.N.A. at Maine Medical Center and then at South Portland Nursing Home. She retired from Maine Medical Center as a CSD Technician. As a young woman Norma sang on a local radio station. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel McGill and her brother Ronald Allen. She is survived by her daughter Norma Jean McGill and her fiancé James “Sonny” Portas of Windham, a sister Maxine Lowell of Windham, her step-children Nancy Olds of Hollis, Brenda Chandler of Falmouth, Wanda Fry of Arizona, David McGill of Windham, and Dannie Quinn of Florida, and by Noah who knew her as Molly. Her daughter would like to thank the caregivers at Seaside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for making her laugh and for loving her . She would also like to thank the caregivers at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the wonderful care and compassion that they gave to her mother in her final days, and a special thank you to Vi Newcomb for her friendship and care of Norma when she lived in Windham. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. A funeral will be held at the funeral home on Friday November 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM, Internment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
